For years, Americans have heard about "junk mail" but never really heard the other side of the story. I grew up in a family where every resource was valued. There is no such thing as junk. And the notion that mail is junk reflects the values of the beholder and not that which he or she is beholding.
With that in mind, I am starting this blog site to begin a constructive dialog to share ideas on how to reduce unwanted mail, increase the recycling of all mail and explain how we all get the wide range of "unsolicited" mail that arrives in our Postal mailboxes.
I have spent 20 years studying mail, its recyclabibility, recycled content, environmental impacts and environmental benefits. After seeing an incredible number of ideologically biased websites, including those of most state environmental agencies, it is clear that indepenent analysis of these issues is needed.
Please share your thoughts on "junk mail" and what can be done to make consumers, mailers and regulators more conscious of mail as a recyclable resource.
